About

About Flock Camera Defense

Flock Camera Defense is an independent legal information resource for people whose criminal cases involve Flock Safety cameras or other automated license plate reader (ALPR) evidence.

What we do

We explain how license plate reader evidence is created and used, which legal questions it can raise, and where the law stands, with a link to the source behind every legal claim. Where participating attorneys are available, we help people find a licensed criminal defense lawyer.

What we are not

  • We are not a law firm and don’t provide legal advice or representation.
  • We are not Flock Safety, and we’re not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any camera manufacturer.
  • We are not an anti-surveillance product company. We don’t sell or promote ways to avoid or obscure cameras.
  • We don’t promise outcomes. Every case depends on its facts and the law where it’s brought.

Why this site exists

Camera evidence can look objective. But a camera record is produced by hardware, software, databases and people, and each step can be examined. We think people facing serious charges deserve a clear explanation of that, in plain English, before they decide what to do next.
